TAUNTON — The following is a statement from Taunton Public Schools Superintendent John Cabral and Taunton Police Chief Edward Walsh regarding the ongoing investigation into threatening graffiti found at Taunton High School:
“Following the discovery, and commencement of an investigation, yesterday into a concerning and threatening message written on the wall of a bathroom at Taunton High School, the Taunton Public Schools and Taunton Police Department report that three additional messages of concerning, non-specific threatening graffiti were found in bathrooms at the high school Thursday morning.
“The investigation, which remains active and ongoing, includes non-specific threatening language, and officials do not believe there is a credible threat of danger at the school.
“The Taunton Public Schools and Taunton Police Department are continuing to actively investigate the graffiti.
“Out of an abundance of caution, there will be an additional police presence at Taunton High School and Parker Middle School this week. Both schools, which share grounds, will continue to operate on their normal schedules with no anticipated disruption to the school days.
“Some bathrooms at the high school may be closed while the investigation remains active.
“School administration was notified shortly after 9 a.m. Wednesday of the first message found written on a bathroom wall at the high school. School resources officers were notified within minutes and initiated an investigation.
“We would like to reiterate that we have a zero-tolerance policy for this type of behavior and anyone found to be writing this graffiti will face potential criminal charges and discipline in accordance with the Taunton Public Schools student code of conduct.”
