TAUNTON — The following is a statement from Taunton Police Department Chief Edward Walsh and Taunton Public Schools Superintendent John Cabral:
“The Taunton Police Department and Taunton Public Schools report that a threat was found written on a wall today in a bathroom at Taunton High School.
Earlier today, Taunton Public Schools officials were notified of the matter and immediately notified Taunton Police, who launched an investigation.
The initial investigation indicates that the threat is not believed to be credible at this time.
Out of an abundance of caution, there will be an extra police presence at Taunton High School this week.
Taunton Police and Taunton Public Schools take all threats extremely seriously, and the safety and well-being of students, faculty and staff is a top priority.
Taunton High School will continue with its regular schedule for the remainder of the week.
If there are any further updates, families will be notified. Any additional questions should be directed to Taunton High School Principal Scott Holcomb’s office at 508-821-1101.”
