HAMPTON — Superintendent Dr. Lois Costa and the Hampton School District are pleased to announce that Adeline C. Marston School and Hampton Academy have earned spots on the 2022 U.S. News and World Report Best K-8 Schools list for New Hampshire.
Marston School placed 15th out of 223 elementary schools in New Hampshire. The school received an overall score of 93.69 out of 100. Hampton Academy placed 11th out of 114 middle schools in New Hampshire. The school received an overall score of 91.15 out of 100.
“These rankings speak to the ability of our administrators and educators, who work tirelessly to provide the best possible learning environment for our students. Rankings also serve as an affirmation to students that their hard work in the classroom is paying off,” Superintendent Costa said. “I thank staff and students for their dedication, along with the school board, families and the community for their support. I am thrilled to have their efforts recognized in this way.”
Schools are ranked based on math and reading proficiency — how well students perform on state assessments — as well as performance — how well they perform compared with expectations. Data used to determine rankings was collected from state assessments from the 2018-19 academic year.
Of all New Hampshire’s ranked elementary schools, Marston School ranked 13th in reading proficiency, 19th in math proficiency, and well above expectations in math and reading performance.
Out of all New Hampshire’s ranked middle schools, Hampton Academy ranked 10th in reading proficiency, 11th in math proficiency, and well above expectations in math and reading performance.
