BRIDGEWATER — Chief Christopher D. Delmonte is pleased to announce that the Bridgewater Police Department has been awarded $34,500 in federal grant funds allocated by the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security’s Office of Grants and Research (OGR).
The $34,500 grant funds were made available by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and allocated by the OGR. This funding will be used to support the Municipal Road Safety program, including the use of speed and traffic counters.
The Bridgewater Police Department will be expending the grant funds over the next 12 months in an effort to increase traffic enforcement campaigns in five target areas including Impaired Driving, Distracted Driving, Speed Enforcement, Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety and Click It or Ticket.
The campaigns will be conducted with high-visibility patrols over specific time periods supported by public safety education.
“We’re extremely pleased to have received this grant, which will allow us to increase traffic enforcement over the next year,” Chief Delmonte said. “I would like to thank Lt. Anne Schuster for coordinating our grant application and look forward to deploying the additional resources to make our roads safer.”
