COHASSET — Fire Chief Robert Silvia is pleased to announce that the Cohasset Fire Department will be holding an Open House for members of the community this weekend.
WHEN
Sunday, Oct. 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
WHERE
Cohasset Fire Department headquarters, 44 Elm St., Cohasset, MA
WHAT
The Cohasset Fire Department will be holding an open house for residents to see the station up close and learn more about the jobs of firefighters in town. Firefighters will be on hand to go over the department’s various fire apparatus and to talk about fire safety with the public.
Cohasset Fire personnel will also be manning the Department of Fire Services fire safety house to further teach fire safety information to the public.
The Open House coincides with the start of National Fire Prevention Week, which begins Oct. 3. This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme is “know the sounds of fire safety,” and aims to educate adults and children alike about the important sounds to recognize from their in-home smoke alarms.
Food and beverages will be provided at the open house by local businesses, such as Starbucks, Stop and Shop, Shaw’s and The Fresh Feast.
The event, which is free to all members of the public, is being organized by Cohasset Fire Lt. Robert Nadeau, who serves as the department’s SAFE Coordinator.
“We encourage the public to stop by the station and learn more about what we do, meet members of our department and learn important fire safety tips as we kick off National Fire Prevention Week,” Chief Silvia said. “The event should be fun and informative for residents of all ages.”
