For immediate release

DRACUT – The NEMLEC Police Foundation, Inc. and the Middlesex County Chiefs of Police Association are coming together to support Pepperell Police Chief David Scott — a member of both organizations — as he raises money to support the Jimmy Fund while battling cancer himself.

Police chiefs in Middlesex County will be joining Chief Scott’s 2021 Jimmy Fund Walk to benefit cancer research, while the NEMLEC Police Foundation is raising money to support Chief Scott and his family as he continues to undergo treatment for stage four colon cancer, which he was diagnosed with last winter.

Chief Scott and his supporters have already raised over $40,000, or 40 times his initial goal of $1,000, on behalf of The Jimmy Fund.

The walk takes place on Sunday, Oct. 3. Though the walk usually follows routes along the Boston Marathon course from Hopkinton to Boston, walkers will be empowered to choose their own locations this year due to COVID-19.

The Middlesex Chiefs will walk the streets of Pepperell in honor of and alongside Scott. Those interested in donating to Chief Scotts’s Jimmy Fund Walk fundraising page can click here.

Funds raised will support critical cancer research and innovative pediatric and adult patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Those who would like to support Chief Scott directly can visit the GoFundMe page set up by the Foundation to support the Chief.
