BEDFORD — Police Chief John Bryfonski and Fire Chief Scott Hunter would like to invite the community to join their departments for an open house at the Bedford Safety Complex.
The free open house is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. This is the first year both departments have held their open house events at the same time. The event will take place at the public safety complex at 55 Constitution Drive.
“We’re excited to join forces with our fellow first responders this year and give our residents an opportunity to see both of our departments in action,” said Chief Bryfonski. “We hope everyone will come out, get to know us a little better and learn about the work we do.”
Bedford Police will offer police cruiser rides, equipment and police canine demonstrations, ice cream, and opportunities to have photos taken with Mischka the Comfort Dog or McGruff the Crime Dog.
Bedford firefighters will offer fire truck rides, a house fire simulator, live demonstrations, food and snacks. Local vendors will also be on hand with a variety of goods.
The Manchester Police Department Mounted Patrol also will be on hand so participants can interact with police horses and mounted unit officers.
“Bring your children and come on down to see our public safety facilities and equipment and get insight into the ways we go about our work,” said Chief Hunter. “This will be an opportunity to learn more about public safety while having fun, and what a great combination that is.”
Plenty of free parking will be available at the event.
