The ceremony will begin with a welcome address from Veterans Services Officer Jennings followed by a Posting of the Colors, the national anthem and pledge of allegiance, an opening prayer, the reading of a 9/11 poem and the laying of roses.
As is the tradition of the New York City Fire Department, the North Attleboro Fire Department will symbolically strike a ‘5-5-5-5′ alarm on a ceremonial bell to remember the first responders who died in the line of duty on Sept. 11, 2001.
A moment of silence, taps preformed by American Legion Buglers Follett and Roberge and a closing prayer will follow. The ceremony will also feature remarks from Town Council President Pare, Chief Coleman and Chief McQuade.
“Every year, Sept. 11 marks a grim day in our nation’s history as it serves as a reminder of what was lost and forever changed on that day in 2001,” Chief Coleman said. “We hope our community members will join us this weekend in honor and remembrance of the civilians and first responders who lost their lives that day 20 years ago.”
