HOPE VALLEY — Chief Justin W. Lee and the Hope Valley-Wyoming Fire District invite the community to a ceremony and parade to mark the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
The event will begin at 9 a.m. with a brief ceremony at the fire station at 996 Main St., where the district will honor the lives lost on 9/11. Following the ceremony a parade will be held, starting at the station and heading along Main Street to the YMCA-Arcadia Branch.
“Our Memorial Day parade has been cancelled each of the past two years, and with this being the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks we wanted to hold this parade so first responders and our residents could pay tribute to the lives that were lost on Sept. 11,” Chief Lee said. “We hope families in town will come out for the event and pay their respects along the parade route as we honor the lives of so many that were senselessly taken on that fateful day.”
Any member of an emergency service organization or civic organization that is interested in taking part in the parade can call the Hope Valley-Wyoming Fire District at 401-539-2229 or leave a message here.
Residents can expect slight traffic delays during the parade.
