WHITMAN — Fire Chief Timothy Clancy and Police Chief Timothy Hanlon would like to invite members of the pubic to a special ceremony to mark the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
The event, co-hosted by the Whitman Fire-Rescue Department and the Whitman Police Department, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 11 beginning at 6 p.m. It will take place at the Whitman Town Park Lower Field at the corner of Maple Avenue and Park Avenue.
First responders and local representatives from the Town of Whitman will be on hand to mark the occasion and pay tribute to the lives that were lost on Sept. 11.
“Commemorating Sept. 11 is always a very important and meaningful day for first responders, and with this being the 20th anniversary of that fateful day we will pay particular tribute not only to those who lost their lives but the families who continue to feel the lasting effects of that day,” Chief Clancy said.
