NEWPORT, Vermont — Chief Travis Bingham reports that the Newport Police Department arrested a suspect in connection with an incident of indecent exposure that occurred on Sunday.
FRANK BAKER, AGE 44, OF NEWPORT CENTER was arrested by Newport Police on Monday, Aug. 9. He was charged with one count of Lewd and Indecent Conduct.
On Monday, Aug. 9, an employee of West Side Deli located at 498 Highland Ave reported to police that at approximately 3 p.m. on the previous day, Aug. 8, the suspect — later identified as BAKER — allegedly entered the store and ordered a sandwich. The employee told police that she then observed the suspect sit down on a bench in the store, expose his genitals and touch himself repeatedly in a sexual manner.
Police obtained surveillance video of the suspect and were able to identify him as BAKER, who is known to police.
BAKER was held overnight and subsequently released on a citation. He was issued a summons to appear in court on Tuesday, Aug. 17.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
