SALEM – Chief Joel Dolan wishes to share that the Salem Police Department hosted a successful National Night Out community event, which raised awareness of the Department’s programs and anti-crime efforts.

The event, held on Tuesday, Aug. 3 at the Police Station, featured demonstrations by the Salem Police Department K-9 and Motor Units, as well as activities and games. The Salem Fire Department demonstrated access and extraction from a wrecked vehicle.

There were numerous displays and events for children, such as a bouncy house, face-painting, and farm animals to pet provided by Officer Corie Bliss. National Night Out, which started in 1984, is held in more than 16,000 communities across the United States.

“Thank you to Officer Brian Lawrence and the Salem Police Community Service Unit for organizing this event. It was great to see so many people attend,” Chief Dolan said. “And thank you to numerous organizations and businesses for their generous support of National Night Out.”

The Salem Police Department would like to thank its public safety partners, the Salem Fire Department, Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, Southern New Hampshire Special Operations Unit, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The Salem Police Department also thanks the following sponsors: Salem Chamber of Commerce, Salem Boys & Girls Club.
