TAUNTON — Superintendent-Director Dr. Alexandre Magalhaes wishes to congratulate Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School student Landon Him, after the senior verbally commits to the admissions process for Dartmouth College.
Him plans on attending the school in the fall of 2022, and plans on joining the Big Green swim team.
Him took his time in making a decision, and ultimately decided on Dartmouth. He is excited about becoming both a student and student-athlete at the school.
“I am honored to verbally commit to the admissions process at Dartmouth College. I am excited to help continue the tradition, history and legacy of Dartmouth swimming,” Him said. “Dartmouth’s unique academic opportunities made my decision easy. I am grateful for this opportunity and would like to thank my family, friends and coaches for their guidance and support.”
Him, an honors student while at BP, has been swimming since he was 8 years old. He started taking lessons at the Old Colony YMCA and Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro South (both in Taunton). He had his first experience in a serious competition at the Boys & Girls Club National Swimming Championships in Florida at an early age, where he exceeded expectations and began to consider a future in the sport.
He quickly joined the Bluefish Swim Club, based in Attleboro, where he is still a member. Through the team he has not only matured as a swimmer but has also engaged in a great deal of community service and volunteering.
“On behalf of the Bristol-Plymouth school community we congratulate Landon on working so hard at both swimming and academics throughout his time at BP thus far,” Superintendent Magalhaes said. “We strive to not only offer our students a rigorous academic curriculum but to also help prepare them to excel outside of the classroom and become productive members of their community. Landon has certainly accomplished that, and we know he will only continue to thrive as a member of the Dartmouth College community.”
IVY LEAGUE DISCLAIMER: A “verbal commitment” does not guarantee admission. An Ivy League coach cannot guarantee admission but can only commit support in the admissions process.
