LITTLETON – Police Chief Matthew Pinard is pleased to share that he is participating in the 2021 Jimmy Fund Walk to benefit cancer research, and also to show support for a fellow chief who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.
The walk is taking place on Sunday, October 3. Though the walk usually follows routes along the Boston Marathon course, walkers will be empowered to choose their own locations this year due to COVID-19.
Chief Pinard will be joining the Middlesex Chiefs to walk the streets of Pepperell in honor of Chief David Scott. Chief Scott is currently battling stage four colon cancer.
Residents interested in donating to Chief Pinard’s fundraising page can click here.
Funds raised will support critical cancer research and innovative pediatric and adult patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Residents can also donate by check. Check should be made payable to the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. In the memo line, residents are asked to write Chief Pinard’s name, along with his participant ID, which is #2196456. Check should be sent directly to Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk, P.O. Box 3595, Boston, MA 02241-3595.
“Cancer likely will affect us all in some way throughout our lives. Personally, cancer has affected my family on more than one occasion,” said Chief Pinard. “I am doing my part to help conquer this disease and with your help, we can move closer to the ultimate finish line; a world without cancer. I invite you to consider making a contribution of any amount toward my fundraising efforts, and thank those who have already helped exceed my initial goal. Each donation has a big impact on this universal cause.”
