WHITMAN — Chief Timothy Clancy reports that the Whitman Fire Department extinguished an electrical fire early Wednesday morning.
At approximately 5:30 a.m., Whitman Fire responded to 74 Linden St. after receiving a 911 call from the homeowner who discovered a fire in the second floor bathroom of the home.
Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from the second floor and quickly worked to extinguish the fire, under the supervision of Deputy Chief Al Cunningham. The scene was cleared by 7 a.m.
The fire was confined to the second floor bathroom, and the damage is estimated to be $20,000. There were no injuries reported as a result of the fire.
A crew from the East Bridgewater Fire Department provided mutual aid on scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Whitman Fire Department.
