EAST BRIDGEWATER — The East Bridgewater Board of Selectmen are pleased to announce that the Town has begun a new initiative to assist various town departments in streamlining the permitting process.
The new permitting services initiative will assist the Town in better coordinating the predictability, timing, and technical review of development proposals and permit applications submitted to the Town.
Specifically, the initiative will streamline the process for the East Bridgewater Planning Board, Conservation Commission and Department of Public Works, among others.
The first major milestone of the program was to bring outside town consulting services under one roof. A Request For Proposal (RFP) for engineering services was issued in the early part of 2021, and after a thorough vetting of responses from more than a dozen firms, the Town selected Environmental Partners of Quincy to serve as the official firm for departments to use.
As part of their work, Environmental Partners will provide on-call peer review and additional stormwater management services on an as-needed basis, as well as provide future on-call consulting, engineering, stormwater management, and wetlands peer review services, construction monitoring, and Certified Erosion, Sediment, and Storm Water Inspection services as needed.
“It can be time consuming and costly for Town departments to use different methods and different firms for permitting needs,” said East Bridgewater Board of Selectmen Vice-Chair Peter Spagone, Jr., who led the RFP process for the Town. “Not only will this speed up the permitting process, it will also lead to cost-savings that will directly benefit the taxpayers of the community.”
