ENFIELD — Superintendent Amanda Isabelle and the Mascoma Valley Regional School District are pleased to announce that Athletic Director Rodney Brown has received the Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA) distinction from the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA).
To earn this distinction, candidates must demonstrate the highest level of knowledge and expertise in the field of interscholastic athletic administration.
The voluntary certification process includes a thorough evaluation of the candidate’s educational background, experience and professional contributions, as well as a comprehensive written examination.
“I would like to congratulate Rodney for this wonderful achievement. He is always working towards self-improvement, and this designation truly shows that,” said Superintendent Isabelle. “I am confident that this certification will enhance his ability as an athletic administrator and will help him to better serve our school and our community in the future.”
Brown became Mascoma Valley’s athletic director in 2019, and oversees all of Mascoma Valley Regional High School’s sports and co-curricular activities, as well as the district’s athletic facilities, equipment, programming and staff. He is also responsible for managing the scheduling of the district’s athletic facilities.
“Being an athletic director is my dream career. My entire life, I have been drawn to sports and have always loved sharing my knowledge with others,” said Brown. “It has been a 10-year long journey to receive my CAA distinction, but it was all worth it and I am so proud. To advance my career even further, I will strive to achieve the NIAAA Certified Master Athletic Administrator designation as well in the coming years.”
Brown holds a master’s degree in sports management from Southern New Hampshire University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus in marketing from St. Joseph’s College of Maine.
In addition to this honor, in 2010, 2015 and 2016, he was named the Southwestern Maine Activities Association’s (SMAA) Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year, and in 2008, he was honored as the SMAA Conference Girl’s Soccer Coach of the Year.
