SUDBURY — Chief John M. Whalen reports that the Sudbury Fire Department extinguished a two-alarm house fire earlier this morning on Willis Road.
Sudbury Fire was dispatched to 381 Willis Road at approximately 3:30 a.m. for a report of heavy smoke and fire in the basement of the house.
Upon arrival, firefighters found flames coming from the basement window and door.
Sudbury’s Car 3, Engines 2 and 3 and Ladder 1 responded to the scene.
Mutual Aid was provided at the scene by the Maynard, Lincoln, Wayland and Concord Fire Departments, as well as an Acton Fire Department Ambulance. The Framingham, Hudson and Weston Fire Departments provided station coverage.
The fire was brought under control within an hour of crews’ arrival on scene. No people were injured in the fire, but one of the resident’s cats did not survive.
The fire remains under investigation by the Sudbury Fire and Police Departments, the Fire District 14 Regional Fire Investigation Team and members of the Massachusetts State Police assigned to the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
