WAKEFIELD – Executive Director Margie Daniels is pleased to share that Massachusetts Partnerships for Youth (MPY) is a finalist for the Red Sox Foundation’s 2021 IMPACT Awards.

The 7th annual Inspiring More Philanthropy Across Charities Together (IMPACT) Awards seek to recognize and honor nonprofits that have made an impact in raising awareness and supporting the mental health of youth.

Nonprofits were nominated for the honor by Red Sox fans, and MPY is one of five Massachusetts nonprofits named as a finalist. Vote daily for MPY by clicking here. The deadline for voting is Friday, July 9.

When the COVID-19 pandemic began last year and schools statewide closed their buildings, MPY swiftly pivoted from holding in-person trainings to offering online webinars to support an unprecedented need among school professionals for education and resources to meet the needs of students and demands of remote learning. In particular, many of the webinars focused on how school professionals could support students navigating isolation, depression, and anxiety amid the pandemic. Support included reinforcing healthy activities in the home during remote learning; balancing screen time; managing stress; promoting resilience and positive outcomes for students; engaging with families while working remotely; utilizing telehealth; promoting anti-racism, equity, inclusion, and diversity; and more.

“Our mission is centered on the health and safety of students, and from the onset of the pandemic and still today, mental health has been a key concern among young people, families and school professionals. We filled a significant need during an unprecedented moment in history, and I am tremendously proud of the teamwork and collaboration among my team, the experts who have led our webinars, and our participants for their engagement, enthusiasm and dedication to their students,” Executive Director Daniels said. “It’s a wonderful honor to be named a finalist for the IMPACT Awards, and we’re deeply thankful to have been nominated and recognized by the Red Sox Foundation.”

Virtual webinars began on March 24, 2020, MPY ultimately presented 56 webinars with approximately 35,000 registrants. These were offered to school-based professionals at no cost.

Beginning in the summer of 2020 and continuing throughout this school year, MPY has also offered two-hour and 10-hour webinars to member districts as professional development. From March 2020 until now, MPY has provided about 160 online trainings, featuring 51 speakers, and cumulatively there have been 46,861 individual registrations.

There are five finalists for the 2021 IMPACT Awards per New England state. The nonprofit with the most votes from each state will be awarded a $10,000 grant. Second-place organizations will be awarded a $3,000 grant and third-place organizations will be awarded a $2,000 grant.

Winning nonprofits will also attend a pregame ceremony and check presentation on Fenway Park on July 22.
