IPSWICH — Police Chief Paul Nikas and Fire Chief Andy Theriault report that the Ipswich Police and Fire Departments responded after a construction worker fell from a building earlier today.

At approximately 9:15 a.m., Ipswich Police and Fire responded to a call for medical assistance at a residential construction site on Robinson Lane. Action Ambulance Service also responded to the scene. Upon arrival, first responders determined a construction worker had fallen approximately 28 feet off of a roof. The worker, a 24-year-old Dracut man, sustained serious injuries.

The man was transported by ambulance to the Mile Lane ball fields, where he was taken by medical helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital.

As of this evening, he is reportedly in critical condition.

The incident is under investigation by Ipswich Police, the Massachusetts State Police Essex Detective Unit, Massachusetts Crime Scene Services Danvers and USDOL OSHA Investigator Jeffrey Oliver.
