CANTON — Superintendent Jill Rossetti and Principal Geoffrey Zini are pleased to announce the graduation of 193 students from Blue Hills Regional Technical School last week.
The graduation ceremony took place Thursday, June 10, which began at 6 p.m. at the Blue Hills Regional Technical School Turf Field.
“I am delighted to address the one and only Blue Hills Class of 2021 in person, outdoors, without masks on this beautiful summer-like evening surrounded by everyone that loves you. We are so proud of each and every one of you,” Superintendent Rossetti said. “Soon you will put what you have learned and experienced at Blue Hills to the test by continuing your education, entering the workforce or joining the military. We know you will surpass all expectations no matter which path you choose. Value each day and make it worthwhile. Take nothing for granted and remember the people who helped get you to where you are–your teachers, coaches, families, friends and our dearly departed.”
The ceremony included a welcome address from District School Committee Chairman Thomas Polito, Jr.; a joint valedictorian address from co-valedictorians Karoline Ferreira and Shanai Lauryn Watson; a presentation of the class gift by the Class of 2021 Vice President Dalenchky Joseph; a farewell address from the Class of 2021 President Christopher Alcimbert; and remarks from Superintendent Rossetti and Principal Zini.
Diplomas were awarded at the ceremony by Superintendent Rossetti, Principal Zini and Chairman Polito.
“On Senior Awards Night, I told our graduates and families that this Class of 2021 has displayed remarkable perseverance, not only this past year, but in their four years at Blue Hills,” Principal Zini said. “Life is full of ‘ups and downs.’ That is reality. If you didn’t know it two years ago, you know it now… As you leave Blue Hills with technical skills, career knowledge, academic learning – remember, you also leave with a trait that will carry through the toughest of times. So the message today is simple – persevere. Keep on keeping on.”
Also in attendance were Dean of Students Thomas Cavanaugh, Academic Director Paul Bavuso, Director of Vocational Programs Michelle Sylvia, Director of Special Services Angelo T. Dimitriou, Cooperative Education Coordinator Kimberly Poliseno and members of the Blue Hills Regional Vocational District School Committee.
“All of us have had our fair share of challenges, that’s for sure, but let us use these experiences to our advantage. It is in discomfort that we have the opportunity to grow as a person … We are exactly where we’re supposed to be! Even if we think it’s the hardest time we have experienced, it is with the hope we can navigate through it all,” Alcimbert said.
