CANAAN — Superintendent Amanda Isabelle and Principal Thomas Fitzgerald are pleased to announce the graduation of 86 students from Mascoma Valley Regional High School.

A commencement ceremony was held on Friday at 6 p.m. at the football field at Mascoma Valley Regional High School. Attendance was limited and masks were required out of an abundance of caution due to COVID-19.

“The Class of 2021 should be so proud of themselves. Faced with a pandemic, remote learning, new technology, and countless other challenges, they remained resilient and adaptable,” Superintendent Isabelle said. “They studied hard and remained steadfast in their dedication to their education even under surreal circumstances, and have more than earned this day. Congratulations seniors!”

“Our seniors have studied and challenged themselves for four long years to reach this moment, and it’s a unique moment to be graduating. The end of the pandemic is hopefully in sight, and it couldn’t be a more hopeful time,” Principal Fitzgerald said. “The future is very bright, I believe, for our seniors and we wish you the absolute best of luck as you take your next steps. You navigated this pandemic with grace and tenacity– take that with you into your next chapter and you will thrive.”

Indian River School social studies teacher Scott MacPhee gave the keynote speech.
