WHITMAN — Chief Timothy Hanlon and the Whitman Police Department regretfully announce the passing of retired Chief Jack Schnyer on Friday, May 28. He was 75.
Chief Schnyer served as Chief of Police for the town of Whitman for 20 of his 36 years on the force, retiring in 2005. He was the active Secretary/Treasurer for the Plymouth County Police Chiefs Association for over 30 years.
Chief Schnyer received his bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University in 1970 and his master’s degree from Anna Maria College in 1981.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, June 6 from 2-6 p.m. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Route 58). A funeral mass will be held at 9 a.m. in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow in the Saint James Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, New York 10306.
“On behalf of the entire Whitman Police Department, I thank Chief Schnyer for his many years of dedicated service and offer condolences to his family,” Chief Hanlon said.
