HOPKINTON — Chief Joseph Bennett is pleased to announce that Hopkinton Police Lt. John Porter graduated from the MMA-Suffolk Certificate in Local Government Leadership and Management program.
Lt. Porter graduated from the MMA-Suffolk Certificate in Local Government Leadership and Management program during a virtual ceremony on May 14. Upon his graduation, Lt. Porter received a certificate of completion.
The MMA (Massachusetts Municipal Association), in partnership with Suffolk University, Certificate in Local Government Leadership and Management program is a graduate-level academic program providing a solid grounding in public management.
The certificate program links contemporary public management theory with “real world” practice, covering topics such as budgeting and financial management, challenges in human resources management and strategic leadership.
“Throughout his career, Lt. Porter has consistently shown exemplary leadership among his peers,” Chief Bennett said. “As a well-respected member of our team, many officers look up to him for guidance and direction. This training will further assist Lt. Porter as he works collaboratively with other departments, boards and committees within our community. I’d like to thank Town Manager Norman Khumalo and Human Resource Director Maria Casey for offering this valuable training.”
Lt. Porter joined the Hopkinton Police Department in 1992. Before being promoted to lieutenant in 2016, Porter served as a patrolman, school resource officer, detective and sergeant.
