TAUNTON — Mayor Shaunna O’Connell and Superintendent John Cabral are pleased to announce that the City of Taunton and Taunton Public Schools will host a COVID-19 vaccine clinic this weekend for members of the Taunton Public School community.
On Saturday, May 22 from 8 to 10 a.m., the City of Taunton and Taunton Public Schools will host a COVID-19 vaccine clinic at the Holiday Inn, 700 Myles Standish Blvd, Taunton.
“We invite our community members to attend our upcoming COVID-19 vaccine clinic for our younger residents this weekend,” Mayor O’Connell said. “Receiving a COVID-19 vaccine is a vital step in re-opening the economy and returning to some sense of normalcy. We encourage all residents to take advantage of this opportunity and consider getting their kids vaccinated.”
Taunton residents 12 years old and older and their family members will receive a dose of the Pfizer vaccine at the clinic. The Pfizer vaccine was approved for those aged 12 and older by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Vaccine Advisory Committee on Wednesday, May 12, previously the vaccine was approved for those 16-years-old and older.
At the clinic, vaccines will be administered by appointment only. Those interested in receiving a vaccine at the upcoming clinic are asked to complete an online form in advance. To access the form, click here.
“We are pleased to announce this collaborative effort between our school district and the City of Taunton to provide a vaccination clinic closer to home for students who are now eligible and would like to receive the vaccine,” Superintendent Cabral said. “With approval of the vaccine for kids 12 and older, our students can now do their part in getting vaccinated, which in turn will help allow them to stay safe while in school.”
The vaccine will be available to all eligible persons regardless of their health insurance status. All individuals under the age of 18 must be accompanied by someone 18 years of age or older. Eligible individuals must be 12 years of age or older, live, work or attend school in the state.
