DIGHTON — Chief Christopher Maguy and the Dighton Fire Department would like to thank residents for a successful 2021 open burning season following the implementation of this year’s new online open burning permit application and burn activation process at dighton.firepermits.com.
The Commonwealth’s annual burn season runs from January 15 to May 1. During the 2021 season, Dighton residents applied for 344 open burning permits at dighton.firepermits.com and burned brush, cane, driftwood, tree prunings and other forestry items.
Chief Maguy would like to remind residents to hold onto their password for the dighton.firepermits.com site, as the same system will be used for the open burning permit process in 2022.
In the event a resident doesn’t remember their password, it can be easily reset by using the “lost your password” feature on the dighton.firepermits.com site. For residents who did not register for the system and get a burn permit in 2021, the system will be open for new registrations in early 2022.
“Implementing a new system always means learning a new way of doing things,” said Chief Maguy. “I want to thank the residents of Dighton for remaining flexible during this transition to the new dighton.firepermits.com platform. We were happy with the result and plan to continue to use this new system in 2022.”
