EASTON — The Easton Fire Department is pleased to announce that Justin Alexander has officially begun his new role as Chief.
Chief Alexander began in his new position on Monday, May 3 and was officially sworn in Easton Fire Station 3Tuesday evening.
“I am thankful for the many valuable experiences I’ve had throughout my career in Plainville, and am honored to have this new opportunity in a great community,” Chief Alexander said. “I’m looking forward to getting to know the members of the department and serving the Easton community.”
Chief Alexander has spent the last 16 years of his career with the Plainville Fire Department including the past seven years as fire chief and emergency management director. He started with the department as a firefighter in 2004 and moved through the ranks holding positions that included equipment coordinator, training officer, EMS coordinator, lieutenant and deputy chief.
While with the department, he lobbied successfully for $36 million to build a new Town Hall and Public Safety building with a state-of-the-art onsite firefighter training facility. He was also involved in the development of a regional EMS training program as chairperson of the Bristol North EMS Committee, and conducted the area’s only biannual live-fire training program for the full Plainville Fire Department.
Under Chief Alexander’s leadership, the Plainville Fire Department was also the first in the region to acquire funds to purchase thermal imaging cameras for every firefighter.
In Easton, Chief Alexander plans to implement a mobile integrated healthcare program within the department where a community paramedicine professional will visit people at their homes and other locations to provide non-emergency medical services.
He is also planning to continue the efforts of town leaders in examining infrastructure needs of the fire department, police department and department of public works.
Chief Alexander has served on several community boards and committees including as a member of the Sturdy Memorial Hospital Foundation Board and Chairperson of the Bristol North EMS Committee. He holds an associate’s degree in fire science from Bristol Community College, a bachelor’s in political science/public administration from Bridgewater State University and is working on his master of public administration from Anna Maria College.
Chief Alexander takes over his new role following the retirement of Chief Kevin Partridge, who retired in October 2020 after a 36-year career in fire service. He has remained with the department on an interim basis which will conclude on Wednesday, May 12.
