BURLINGTON – Library Director Michael Wick is pleased to announce that the Burlington Public Library’s Job Search Skills Series will return later this month with a free resume building workshop.
The workshop will be held virtually via Zoom on Thursday, May 13, at 7 p.m., and will include a free resume review with career coach Gary Gekow after the event. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn how to craft a resume that will stand out as they look to rejoin the workforce or make a career change.
Gekow will discuss best practices for building a resume, including formatting choices and content review, as well as applicant tracking systems, keyword search techniques and how to address special situations — such as an extended gap in your work history.
He is a senior employment specialist and career coach with 30 years of recruiting and employment services experience in the New England staffing industry. He specializes in job search strategies, resume creation, interview coaching, personal branding and career counseling.
This Zoom program is free and open to all. Register here: Resume Builder
“I created the Job Search Skills Series to serve our patrons who have lost their jobs the way so many Americans have since the beginning of the pandemic,” Reference Librarian Shelley Sloboder said. “We recognize how demoralizing being out of work can be, and the Burlington Public Library is uniquely suited to offer guidance and assistance for job seekers or for those who want to reinvent themselves.”
In addition to offering job search programming, the library has many other resources for job seekers, and they are encouraged to come and browse the career collections and to talk to staff about free training resources.
