ACTON — Police Chief Richard Burrows and Fire Chief Robert Hart report that the Acton Police and Fire Departments responded today after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in a grocery store parking lot this afternoon.
At 1:09 p.m., Acton Police and Fire were dispatched to Roche Bros., 387 Massachusetts Ave. for a report of a pedestrian who was struck and injured by a vehicle in the parking lot.
Upon arrival, first responders located a female laying alongside the travel lane in front of the store. Police and firefighters began providing aid to the 56-year-old victim.
Acton Police initiated an on-scene investigation and determined that the driver of the vehicle, a 76-year-old woman, turned left at a slow speed and struck the victim as she was walking across the travel lane toward the parking area.
The victim was transported to an area hospital with injuries that are serious and potentially life-threatening.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Acton Police Department, which is coordinating with the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
