WATERBORO — Chief Matt Bors reports that a community vaccination clinic scheduled for Tuesday at Massabesic Middle School has been cancelled.
Approximately 450 people who made appointments to attend the clinic are being notified. The Waterboro Fire Department had partnered with the Sanford Fire Department to coordinate the clinic, which was open to anyone 18 or older.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced on Tuesday that the federal government is pausing use of the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine (Johnson & Johnson) after rare clotting cases occurred in a half-dozen patients. Local officials have since been informed that due to the pause and an anticipated shortage of vaccine doses, the state is unable to allocate the vaccine supply needed for the clinic.
There is no additional information available at this time. The Waterboro Fire Department will post updates about future clinic opportunities on its Facebook Page @waterborofire.
