WHITMAN — The Whitman Fire Department announces that Chief Timothy Grenno will be retiring in July following a nearly 40-year career in fire service.
The Whitman Board of Selectmen made the announcement at their April 13 meeting. Chief Grenno plans to officially retire effective Friday, July 9.
“It has been an honor to serve with the men and women of the Whitman Fire Department, as well as the members of the Whitman community,” Chief Grenno said.
Chief Grenno, who also serves as the Town’s Emergency Management Director, has served as Chief of the Whitman Fire Department since 2008. He was appointed a call firefighter in 1984 by his father, then Chief Richard Grenno. He was named a fulltime firefighter in 1992 by Chief Tim Travers, and then a lieutenant in 1999.
More information on Chief Grenno’s retirement, as well as information on the selection of a new chief for the department, will be released at a later time.
