TAUNTON — Superintendent John Cabral is pleased to share Taunton Public Schools’ Strategic Plan for the 2021-2026 school years.
“Our latest strategic plan is an evolution of our district’s previous plan that was developed under my predecessor Dr. Julie Hackett and one I was also involved in developing while serving as the principal of the Benjamin A. Friedman Middle School and Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations,” Superintendent Cabral said. “Our new strategic plan was created with a recognition of the past work the district has completed alongside a lens looking towards the future. We plan to continue to expand upon previously existing initiatives and objectives while continuing to prepare our students for their futures.”
The district has been developing the new strategic plan since July 2019, which includes significant public input from a broad cross-section of the community, including school committee members, parents, teachers, principals and other educational stakeholders throughout our community. Overall, approximately 100 community stakeholders’ feedback was taken into account.
The strategic plan was presented to the Taunton Public School Board on March 3, 2021. To view the strategic plan for 2021-2026, click here.
The strategic plan features the district’s theory of action, which reads:
“If the Taunton Public School District commits to providing personalized instruction and differentiated professional development for our educators, then we will become more inclusive while ensuring high quality education for all students. If we hold ourselves accountable to meeting these high standards, our instruction will become more engaging and impactful, then we will meet the individual needs of all our students.”
The strategic plan, which will be rolled out over a five year period, focuses on four strategic objectives to support a customized learning environment for students: Professional Culture, Relationships and Climate; Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment and Planning; Management, Budget and Operations; and Family Engagement and Community Partnerships.
The four strategic objectives focus on the following:
- Professional Culture, Relationships and Climate: Strengthen an environment and school culture that honors and celebrates diversity and responds effectively to the social-emotional experiences of every student and family.
- Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment and Planning: Provide engaging, relevant and rigorous learning experiences that support each student and educator in reaching in their fullest potential.
- Management, Budget and Operations: Strengthen the budgeting process to ensure efficient use of available resources that support District initiatives, while maintaining up-to-date, secure, safe and equitable facilities that are conducive to active learning.
- Family Engagement and Community Partnerships: Strengthen family and community partnerships to support and enhance student learning and
well being.
To achieve these objectives, the district will undertake a wide array of initiatives and will closely examine its current curriculum, programming, procedures and areas of improvement.
The 2021-2026 Strategic Plan is a living document that will be revisited bi-annually and modified to continuously meet the needs of the district.
