NEW LONDON, N.H. — Superintendent Winfried Feneberg is pleased to announce Kearsarge Regional High School’s student of the month for March.
Rosalia Merritt, a junior of Sutton, has been selected as the March 2021 student of the month at Kearsarge Regional High School after being nominated by faculty for the honor.
“During my time at Kearsarge, I have been lucky enough to gain lifelong friendships and meet some of the most inspirational adults in my life. As I am pushed every day to stay focused and do my best I am also reminded to have fun whether that’s by a fun warmup in chorus/theatre or talking with friends during our mask break,” Merritt said. “Most importantly I have received endless support and encouragement and have been given endless opportunities to help me achieve my goals.”
Merritt has challenged herself academically by taking honors level math courses, a subject she excels in. She is also a member of the school’s Chorus and Treble Chorus, and helps to organize music and foster a friendly environment in class. She is known by her teachers as a hard worker who is consistently kind, respectful and engaged in her studies.
“Rosalia always has a smile on her face and makes our school a friendlier and happier place,” said Science teacher Peter Hattan.
Merritt is also involved with the Kearsarge Actors Guilds’ ongoing production of ‘As You Like it.” The group is currently practicing in a hybrid capacity.
“Rosalia is a spark plug for community engagement, and connecting people to different activities and ways to have fun within the guidelines of COVID safety protocols,” said Theatre teacher Scott Sweatt. “Rosalia has been a delight to work with as creativity and positivity is on full display every day, and is a valued member of our ensemble.”
Kearsarge Regional High School’s Student of the Month Program is sponsored by Tuckers Restaurant of New London.
