SHREWSBURY — Chief James Vuona reports that the Shrewsbury Fire Department responded to a crash involving a school bus and a tractor-trailer.
First responders were dispatched to Route 20 near Avalon Way at about 7:29 a.m. on Tuesday, March 23, for a report of a crash involving a school bus.
Students in the AA Transportation bus were en route to Al-Hamra Academy. Seven children and the bus driver reported injuries, none of which are considered life-threatening. UMass Memorial EMS transported them to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.
The principal of Al-Hamra Academy responded to the scene to notify families. The remaining students were transported to school by AA Transportation.
Officials from Shrewsbury Public Schools, which contracts AA Transportation to provide student busing, also were on the scene.
The Shrewsbury Police Department is investigating the crash.
