PETERBOROUGH — Contoocook Valley School District Moderator Bob Edwards announces that a recount will be held later this week for Article 1 from last week’s warrant.
The recount was requested by private citizens from the district’s nine towns through a petition submitted to the district clerk in accordance with state law. The School Board is legally bound to perform the recount when a valid petition is submitted. Recounts must be requested by registered voters in the district. The recount will be overseen by the district moderator. Though the school board serves as the board of recount, members of the school board will not carry out the recount themselves. The recount will be completed by counters, such as Supervisors of the Checklist.
Article 1, the proposed District budget, on the ConVal Warrant was defeated by four votes on March 9.
The recount will take place at ConVal High School on Thursday, March 18 starting at 4:30 p.m.
