RAYMOND — Superintendent Tina McCoy announces Raymond High School is one of three options being considered by the Fremont School District to send their high school students in the coming years.
In November 2019, the Fremont School District began its study of different high school options for students, with Raymond High School being one of the options considered. Currently, Fremont students attend Ellis School in town for preschool to eighth grade before heading to Sanborn Regional High School in Kingston for grades 9-12.
This work was temporarily paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, in February, Raymond School District administrators met with the Fremont School Board to showcase the robust curriculum, extracurricular and athletic opportunities, community service initiatives, and personalized learning, including extended learning avenues, available to students at Raymond High School.
“A partnership between Raymond and Fremont would offer a unique opportunity to enhance opportunities for students in both towns while also reducing per-pupil costs for both of our districts,” Superintendent McCoy said. “We truly would be stronger and more efficient together.”
Additionally, these new students would benefit the current community by lowering the cost per pupil rate. Approximately 160 to 200 students, or 40 to 50 students per grade level, from Fremont would attend Raymond High School should the district be chosen.
“It’s just a huge community, it’s like a big family,” Kathryn Lacasse, a senior at RHS, said. “Everyone at Raymond High School knows one another, everyone supports one another. It’s just great and I’ve never experienced anything like it.

Raymond is one of three districts who are in talks with Fremont about accommodating their students in the coming years. The other two options would be Pinkerton Academy in Derry or remaining at Sanborn Regional High School. Should Fremont decide to send their students to a new district, the transition would start with the freshman class in 2026.
Fremont residents will complete a survey to rank their preferences during the Town Meeting vote on March 9.
Raymond School officials will continue to keep the community informed about the process and share more information when it becomes available.
