MELROSE— Police Chief Michael Lyle and Middlesex District Attorney Marian T. Ryan report that the Melrose Police Department responded last night to a single-vehicle crash after which the victim died from their injuries.

At approximately 11 p.m. last night, Melrose Police and Fire were dispatched to the intersection of Upham Street and Wildwood Road for a report of a single-vehicle crash. Upon arrival, first responding crews located the lone occupant of the all-terrain vehicle (ATV) involved in the crash with serious injuries.

The victim, a 64-year-old Melrose man, was transported to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, where he subsequently died from his injuries. The victim’s name is not being released at this time, pending notification of next of kin.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by the Melrose Police Department, Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section (CARS) and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
