BURLINGTON — Library Director Michael Wick is pleased to announce that the Burlington Public Library will be holding a drive-thru curbside food drive to benefit People Helping People this month.
WHEN:
Saturday, Feb. 20 from 10:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
WHERE:
Burlington Public Library, Curbside Library Tent, 22 Sears St.
WHAT:
The Burlington Public Library is asking residents and community members to donate non-perishable, future-dated food items to benefit People Helping People. People Helping People is a local, non-profit organization that provides assistance to Burlington residents in need of food, medicine, heat and other basic necessities.
Items that are being sought for donation include one to two-pound bags of jasmine and basmati rice, two-pound bags of sugar and flour, side dishes (quinoa, au gratin potatoes, flavored rice or pasta, etc), healthy snacks, canned tomatoes, pasta sauce, spaghetti, pancake syrup, coffee, tea, cocoa, vegetable oil and jelly.
Additionally, the organization is in need of personal care items, including shampoo, toothpaste, tissues and dish soap.
“In the past, we have held a program that allowed residents to donate food items in order to pay off library fines. Even though the library is now fine free, we hope to keep up the tradition as a way to serve our community,” said Library Director Wick. “We encourage all those who can to stop by and participate in our curbside food drive on Feb. 20.”
Residents are asked to make sure that all donated food items are non-perishable, future-dated and that the packaging is not damaged or dented.
