PLYMOUTH — Chief G. Edward Bradley is pleased to announce that the Plymouth Fire Department is assisting the Town of Plymouth at their senior congregate living vaccine clinics this week.
“It’s a privilege of ours to be able to assist the town at these senior housing vaccination clinics,” Chief Bradley said. “We are among the first in the state to provide the COVID-19 vaccine to elderly residents at senior housing and congregate living sites, and we hope that following this endeavor we will be able to broaden our efforts to vaccinate homebound seniors as well.”
Beginning today and spanning over the next couple of days, the Plymouth Fire Department, along with Brewster Ambulance Service, will be vaccinating elderly residents at senior housing and congregate living sites across Plymouth.
Today, clinics were hosted at Cherry Hill Housing and Northfield Congregate Senior Housing in Plymouth. Residents at these two locations received their first dose of the Moderna vaccine. They will receive their second dose within the next 28 days.
In total, 100 senior residents were inoculated today. Housing authority staff who work in the buildings received their first dose of the vaccine today as well.
At the clinics, paramedics and nurses from Brewster Ambulance Service vaccinate the residents while Plymouth Firefighters assist Brewster with clinic set-up, documentation and post-evaluation once residents have received the vaccine.
Clinics are expected to be hosted at High Cliff Senior Housing and Castle Hill Senior Housing at Castle Court tomorrow and then at Southfield Senior Housing on Thursday, Feb. 4. By the end of the week, the Town of Plymouth is expected to have administered the first dose of the Moderna vaccine to approximately 331 senior residents and Plymouth Housing Authority staff members.
Any senior living residents or housing staff member who cannot make the clinic scheduled at their facility can travel to any of the other facilities for their vaccination. These clinics are offered at no charge to residents or the Town of Plymouth.
“We are extremely pleased to be a member of this collaborative program between the Plymouth Fire Department, Brewster Ambulance Service, the Town of Plymouth and the Plymouth Housing Authority,” Chief Bradley said. “I’d like to thank Brewster Ambulance Service and the Professional Firefighters of Massachusetts, as without them this program wouldn’t have been possible.”
At this time, the Town of Plymouth, with assistance from the Plymouth Fire Department, is working to create a program to vaccinate homebound elderly residents. Details will be shared at a later date once they are finalized.
