LITTLETON — Police Chief Matthew Pinard and Fire Chief Scott Wodzinski report members of the Littleton Police and Fire Departments responded to a local hiking trail after a dog suffered a medical emergency Sunday afternoon.
On Sunday, Jan. 31 at approximately 1:20 p.m., Littleton Police were dispatched to the Cobb Memorial hiking trails off Newton Road after a 65-year-old Littleton woman reported that one of her two dogs suffered a medical emergency and passed away on the trail.
First responders were able locate the woman on the trail. Police helped to carry the dog along the trail until they were met by firefighters who used the department’s ATV to transport the dog to the parking area.
The dog had been recently diagnosed with a health condition that is believed to have caused the death of the animal. No other injuries were reported.
