WRENTHAM — Superintendent Paul Zinni and King Philip DECA Marketing Coordinator James Dow are pleased to report that the organization has qualified a large group of students for the State Career Development Conference (SCDC) to be held in March.
The DECA District competition was held virtually this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. KP DECA students submitted manuals online and recorded presentations that were sent in to be judged for the Massachusetts District Career Development Conferences. A total of 84 students from King Philip DECA, which is part of District 2, competed at this first level of competition and 81 students qualified for the state conference.
More than 800 students from 13 local high schools participated virtually in the competition in over 50 categories related to business, marketing, hospitality, finance and entrepreneurship. Students who placed within the top five of their category qualified for SCDC.
Those who have moved on to the next level of competition were recognized during a virtual awards ceremony presentation on Jan. 27. The awards ceremony was shown live on Massachusetts DECA’s Facebook page and can still be viewed here.
Medals will be sent to all SCDC qualifiers.
