EAST KINGSTON, N.H. — Chief Ed Warren is pleased to announce the East Kingston Fire Department was selected to receive a $7,500 grant from Enbridge Energy.
The funding was awarded to the department by Enbridge Energy, a Canadian-based energy company, through their Safe Community First Responder Program. The program provides fire departments, ambulance services, and other emergency responders with grants to help first responders purchase safety equipment, or participate in professional trainings or safety education programs.
The funding will be used to purchase three full sets of turnout gear for East Kingston firefighters.
“We are honored to receive this funding to help purchase equipment to help protect the health and safety of our members while they work,” Chief Warren said. “Great work by administrative assistant Heather Desmond for identifying this source of funding to help benefit the department without any additional cost to our taxpayers.”
Enbridge representatives will be visiting the East Kingston Fire Department on Friday, Jan. 29 at approximately 3 p.m. to present the funding.
Applicants are able to apply for up to $7,500 in funding through the Safe Community First Responder Program. The program launched in 2002, expanding to Canada in 2009. Through the program, Enbridge has invested $12.5 million in North American emergency responder organizations since its inception—including $1.7 million in 2019.
