CANTON — Chief Charles Doody reports that the Canton Fire Department responded this afternoon after a child fell from a ski lift and sustained serious injuries.
At 4:23 p.m. the Canton Fire Department responded to the Blue Hills Ski Area on Washington Street for a report that an 7-year-old boy of Rockland had fallen approximately 35 feet from a ski lift and sustained serious injuries.
Upon arrival, Canton Fire paramedics were met in the parking lot by the Blue Hills Ski Area ski patrol who extricated the boy from where he fell and provided medical care on scene before Canton Fire paramedics took over. Canton Fire requested a medical helicopter, and Canton Police and Massachusetts State Police assisted in securing an area at the MEDITECH Headquarters on Blue Hill River Road where the helicopter was able to land at 5:13 p.m.
The boy was taken by helicopter to Boston Children’s Hospital. His injuries are serious, but are not believed to be life threatening.
