NEWPORT, VERMONT — Chief Travis Bingham reports that Newport Police arrested a man following a residential break-in early Friday morning.
BRIAN DODDS, AGE 34, of NEWPORT was arrested and charged with:
- Unlawful Trespass
- Deadly Weapon Possession While Committing a Crime
At approximately 1:45 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 22, officers responded to a residence on West End Avenue for a report of a residential break-in. The homeowner reported that the male may be in possession of a handgun and was then allegedly going through vehicles on the property.
Upon arrival, officers located the male, later identified as DODDS, asleep in the driver’s seat of one of the homeowner’s vehicles and slumped over the center console. Officers located and removed a firearm from his person before waking him and placing him under arrest.
DODDS was expected to be arraigned today in Orleans District Court.
