For immediate release

IPSWICH —  Police Chief Paul A. Nikas and the Ipswich Police Department announce that Peabody Street will be closed to through traffic starting next week.

Starting on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021, the Ipswich Highway Department will be installing jersey barriers across the road at the Kimball Brook culvert, which will prevent any through traffic to Hayward Street from Peabody Street for the foreseeable future.

On Dec. 21, 2020, the Select Board voted to make Peabody Street a dead end at the request of residents in the area.

As such, anyone needing access to the Hayward Street business park must use Hayward Street going forward. Residents of Peabody Street must use the Topsfield Road access point for all future travel.

Those with questions should contact the Ipswich Town Manager’s Office at 978-356-6609 or the Ipswich Police Department at 978-356-4343.
