EASTON — Fire Chief Kevin Partridge reports that the Easton Fire Department responded to a head-on motor vehicle crash near Hilliard’s Chocolates early Wednesday evening.
At approximately 5:16 p.m., Easton Fire was dispatched to the intersection of Washington Street (Route 138) and Main Street for a report of a head-on crash.
Two ambulances from Easton Fire and one from Brewster Ambulance Service arrived on scene and paramedics began rendering aid.
The crash involved a pickup truck driven by a 57-year-old male, and a RAV4 occupied by a man, 51, and woman, 32. Due to the vehicle damage, both occupants of the RAV4 had to be extricated from the vehicle using a hydraulic extrication tool. All three people were transported to local hospitals with injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening.
During the duration of the incident, traffic was rerouted through the back parking lot of Hilliard’s Chocolates, located at 316 Main St., by Easton Police. The scene was cleared at approximately 6:20 p.m. Deputy Jonathan Carroll was the incident commander at the scene.
“We arrived quickly on scene and worked together to assist the patients in need,” Deputy Carroll said. “Thankfully the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, despite the significant vehicle impact.”
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Easton Police Department.
