READING — Police Chief David Clark reports that the elderly female who was reported missing this morning has been found safe.

The 86-year-old Reading woman was located in the area of Main Street in Reading at approximately 9:20 a.m. Monday.

The woman had been reported missing from the Pearl Street area at approximately 7:30 a.m. and had last been seen at approximately 5:30 a.m.

Reading Police immediately set up a command post with the Reading Fire Department and worked with the NEMLEC K-9 unit, North Reading and Wakefield Police Departments, Massachusetts State Police Units, Massachusetts State Police Airwing, Massachusetts State Police K-9 units, Transit Police and the Reading Department of Public Works throughout the search.

Social media channels and the town-wide CodeRED system were also utilized. The woman was ultimately located by a citizen.

“We would like to thank each of the agencies who assisted us with a coordinated search to locate the individual,” Chief Clark said. “We would also like to express our appreciation to the community members who called in tips to assist in our search. We are pleased that she was found safe.”
