WESTPORT — The following is a statement from Westport Community Schools Interim Superintendent Thomas F. Aubin:
“On behalf of the entire faculty and staff of the Westport Community Schools, I would like to wish each and every member of our school community a safe and happy holiday season.
“There is no denying that 2020 has been a difficult and challenging year for all of us. The pandemic has altered the way we teach, learn and live our lives. But through it all, our teachers, staff and district employees have gone above and beyond to provide the best learning environment possible.
“Likewise, our students — as well as their families — have shown a level of resiliency and dedication that is truly inspiring. They have exceeded all expectations and have adapted to every change that was thrown their way.
“We have been very pleased with how our fully in-person and remote models have gone so far this year. We have seen very low positive COVID-19 case counts, and that is due to both the planning and implementation of the models and the fact that so many in our school community have been responsible in following proper health guidance.
“As I said earlier, 2020 has been a year like no other. But as the year comes to a close and we prepare to break for the holidays, I am happy to say that this year has also been highly rewarding. I look forward to seeing what 2021 has in store, and I wish everyone in our school community a safe and happy New Year.”
