MEDWAY — Superintendent Armand Pires and Principal John Murray are pleased to share that the Medway High School Choral Program has created a virtual holiday performance to share with the community.

The virtual choir performance, called “Operation Spread Some Cheer,” was shared last week with local assisted living and rehabilitation facilities, including Medway Country Manor, Cornerstone at Milford Assisted Living Facility, Benchmark Senior Living at Forge Hill, Magnolia Heights Gracious Retirement Living Facility and Serenity Hill Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
The hour-long program includes students performing a number of holiday hits, including “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” “White Christmas,” “Where Are You Christmas,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Jingle Bell Rock,” along with plenty of other holiday classics to help viewers get into the holiday spirit.
Students also contributed artwork for the video and assisted with video and audio production and the overall planning and organization of the program.
“This is the first time in 35 years that I have not either sung in or conducted a holiday choral event, and I can only assume others will be missing their traditional holiday experiences, many of them probably involving music,” Choir Director Ashley Nelson-Oneschuk said. “It was important to me to reach out to local facilities housing our potentially most isolated community members in the hopes that music could brighten their season. This was also a wonderful opportunity for the students to give back in a very open-ended way, with some submitting audio, full videos, artwork or choosing to be involved in a public relations aspect.”
“We truly appreciate the work of all of the students and faculty who helped to plan and produce this project,” Principal Murray said. “Many of our usual annual activities look different this year, and the students did a great job with a unique project that we hope will help spread some holiday cheer within our community.”
