SAUGUS — Chief Michael Ricciardelli reports that the Saugus Police and Fire Departments responded this evening after a man was trapped by a piece of heavy machinery.
At approximately 5:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to 31 Woodland Ave. for a report of a Bobcat machine that had overturned and trapped the operator, a 57-year-old man. The man was working on his private property at the time.
Upon arrival, Saugus firefighters worked to extricate the man and began CPR. The man was transported by ambulance to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Saugus Police officers assisted with traffic at the scene.
The cause of the incident is under investigation by the Saugus Police Department.
